Why do you choose to doubt when the alternative is to trust?

There have been times when friends or acquaintances heard certain things about me that weren’t true, but they believed them. I’m not perfect and I’m sure I’ve committed the same mistake.

However, I’ve often discovered that I know my friends better than they know me, and somehow…I trust people in what some might say, a more foolhardy way. I’m aware that bad things happen in this world, and that there are people who will cheat and lie to you intentionally to get something out from you. But when I get to know someone, I trust them and look upon them favourably until and unless they do something to violate that trust. And it must be something that I’m sure they did, not something that I heard from someone else, even if that someone else is a good friend.

After getting to know more people when I started working as an adult, I found out that there are some who decide to not place their trust in people first until they have proven themselves. How this proof of reliability is ascertained…well, that depends on the individual.

I don’t have the right to say which method is best; I just know that to always keep others at an arm’s length, waiting for them prove themselves to be worthy of my trust…that’s not for me. I’ve been hurt countless times because of my choice to be ‘foolish’, and I’m scared of being hurt again, scared of being betrayed again…just scared of the next encounter with new people, as much as everybody else.

But I won’t give up trying to connect honestly and meaningfully with people because of that fear. I’ll laugh in it’s face, false bravado and with tears swimming in my eyes and all, but I won’t back down.

Due to the relative inconsistencies of various display monitors, the colours you see on your screen may not be an exact reproduction of the actual product. I strive for colour accuracy as much as possible, but product photos are intended as a guide only, and colour variation between the screen images and the actual products is not improbable.
